Carnival

Carnival celebrations in St Barth begin the first Sunday in January after Epiphany, with small parades in the streets of Gustavia every Sunday afternoon. Various Carnival groups rehearse as they gear up for the big Mardi Gras event.
This year, Mardi Gras falls on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, but the festivities begin as of February 8, with a parade for school children to get the party started. Here is the program of events:

The West Indies Regatta is a three day event held annually over the Mayday weekend in St Barth celebrating traditional West Indian sails.

The simpliest and easiest way to get to St Barthelemy is by plane!
Most visitors arrive in St. Barts via St. Martin (the Princess Juliana International Airport) and take either a Winair or St Barth Commuter final leg. Flying time from St. Martin to St Barth is only 15 minutes.

By Boat

You can get to St Barts by ferry boat. It will take around 45 minutes depending on the weather forecast and it costs from 50€ to 75€ per person! There are 2 main companies connecting from St Martin to St Barth: The Voyager and the Great Bay Express.

When to go?

The sun rarely doesn’t shine on St Barts, with temperatures of 20ºC to 33ºC. The peak season is from Thanksgiving to March, with an apogee during the two-week Christmas/New Year period.
The hurricane season runs from July to October but from year to year this unpredictable.
Avoid October when few companies, stores can take their holidays.
